Mixbook is seeking a passionate, enthusiastic, and super smart VP of Engineering to help build out, mentor, and manage our development team. You’ll be reporting to the CTO/Co-founder, working with a spectacular team, learning a ton, and having loads of fun while doing it. We’re looking for a candidate who is up to the challenge of scaling a product and team lightning quick. You’ll be the CTO’s partner in helping to hire and grow a highly productive engineering organization.
Role:
- Recruit world-class engineering, operations and quality assurance talent to drive initiatives and produce high quality products.
- Oversee development and operations at Mixbook, including: development, deployment, optimizations, maintenance, and scale
- Partner with product teams to improve development and product speed by helping to implement agile processes and workflows
- Provide technical guidance and leadership to the Engineering team: mentor junior and senior managers, work with key architects to help administer and encourage best practices, improve infrastructure and architecture, and provide leadership to help set team goals for performance and technical excellence
- Ensure stable deployment, maintenance, and scalability while closely managing relationship between developers and operations
- Anticipate future growth needs and work with the team to address them
- Foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, speed, innovation, excellence and a fun work environment while continuously elevating the quality and caliber of our engineering organization.
- Drive technical excellence and innovation in the team while continuing to hold the team to a high standard of development and foster intrapreneurship and ownership
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years in an engineering management position (Sr. Manager, Director, Sr. Director, VP)
- Minimum 10 years of software engineering experience BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or related field
- Proven leadership skills
- Ruby on Rails expertise with large-scale projects
- Experience with Scrum or Agile methods
- Demonstrated ability to hire and build engineering teams
- Experience building and maintaining a large-scale service
- Excellent people skills, both technical and non-technical
- Passion for web technologies
- Experience with managing Systems Operations a plus
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
